Ia was born and raised in Sacramento, California. A natural educator and nurturer, Ia has consistently centered community, culture, and care in her work. During her undergraduate studies, she organized and led Hmong cultural workshops and performances, creating spaces for Hmong college students to reconnect with and strengthen their cultural identity and heritage.

Outside of her community work, Ia enjoys spending time outdoors, embracing a slower pace of life with her husband and her beloved dog.
